This work outlines an approach to applying rapid prototyping concepts to object-oriented software development. The technique is based on combining the Coad/Yourdon Object-Oriented Analysis approach and the Connell/Shafer Structured Rapid Prototyping approach. Even when object-oriented techniques are used, requirements cannot be complete until an example of the propoosed application (a prototype) is available for experimentation. O-O static specification representations are proposed for use in conjunction with prototype development. The benefits of moving toward an O-O approach are suggested and recommendations for application of the approach to current application development are given.
